Title: Sweet Devotion
Author: Me~
Genre: Romance, fluff
Rating: PG-13
Warning: boyxboy pairing, failed fluff, spelling mistakes, tons of typos
Pairing: Akame
Beta: [livejournal.com profile] spread_da_love
Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with JE, and obviously I cannot "own" these people. I also, in no way, make monetary profit off this.
Summary: Their lives are contrasting but their devotion is the sweet assurance in their relationship.
A/N: This is a thank you/birthday fic for [livejournal.com profile] sweetpaopuwind .  She helped beta for me at the last minute and I promised her I would write her a one-shot for her birthday.  She wanted dominant Kame, sweet, realistic/home life.  And the moment she said it I couldn’t get the image of a wealthy, powerful Jin at work with a sweet and loved Kame at work.  But in their private life the role is reversed.  I hope I managed to show it well enough.  Sadly you don’t get as much dominant!Kame as I would have liked but the themes and ideas we brainstormed kind of made me go elsewhere haha.  I hope you like it, and I especially hope [livejournal.com profile] sweetpaopuwind likes it!

[AJ Design Branch]

Jin leaned forward, resting his chin on his fist.  He resisted the urge to grin at the information being reported.  He glanced unnoticeably at the clock and forced his grin down with even more force.

“Are you paying attention, sir?” his employee asked.

Jin shook himself back to the matter at hand, “of course.  Well the numbers are sounding amazing.  I want the official report on my desk by tomorrow morning,” he glanced at the clock again, “Go ahead and tell the design department that I’m going to be stopping by after lunch… I might be a bit late coming back from lunch though so tell them to not wait for me before starting.  After you alert them and give marketing the plans go ahead and take lunch.  You’re dismissed.”

“Right away, sir,” the man answered before scurrying out of the office.

Jin turned back to his computer, pulling up a few files and designs.  He smiled briefly before logging off.  He picked up his briefcase before locking his office.

“What should I get for lunch today,” he mumbled, “Maybe Kame would like yakitori… maybe some takoyaki too…”

He acknowledged those who bowed to him as he walked to the elevator.  As he waited for the elevator he dug out his car keys.  He sent a quick message on his phone, making sure to add at the end.  He then called in an order to his favorite restaurant, hoping to make the most of his lunch break.

[Kindergarten]

Kame briefly pulled his phone out of his pocket.  He smiled at the message

From: JinJin

To: Kazu

Message: Taking a long lunch, I’ll be there in half an hour with food. Love you

He briefly wondered if the employees ever saw this side of their ‘terrifying’ president.  The few times he had visited the other at work he had to force himself not to laugh at how his goofy lover was treated with reverence and fear at work.

Junno smiled brightly, “Jin coming to visit today?” he guessed at the other man’s smile.  He popped a piece of inari into his mouth.

“Yeah,” Kame put his phone back into his bag and turned back to the children, “Everyone having fun?” he cooed.  He pulled his hair back into a small ponytail before kneeling beside a little girl, “How is your painting, Ai-chan?”

She giggled and held up the paper, showing the smudged butterfly.

“Ah, it’s beautiful!” Kame reached out to touch the paper.

Ai was quickly distracted by the assortment of rings and necklaces her teacher wore.  She reached out to one of the rings, conveniently decorated with etchings and butterflies.

Kame smiled fondly at the little girl and fingered the ring.  The little butterflies were formed with a rainbow of jewels and diamonds accenting the etchings.

He went and checked on the other children, marveling at the adorable paintings each was coming up with.

He looked up when a figure entered the doorway. He didn’t expect Jin to make it so quickly but he was disappointed when an elegant woman smiled nervously from the doorway.

“Ah!  You must be Suzuki-san,” he greeted as he walked up to her, he bowed, “I’m Kamenashi Kazuya, it’s great to finally meet you in person.”

“Suzuki Mariko,” She bowed, “I’m so sorry we’re late.  There were some things to attend to at home, and he’s a bit scared of starting I think.”

Kame kneeled down so he was level with the young boy, “I’m your new teacher, Kamenashi Kazuya.  What’s your name?” he smiled reassuringly.

“Suzuki Dai,” the little boy looked up at him through his eyelashes.

“Well, Dai-kun, I think you’re going to like it here.  Why don’t you go talk to some of your classmates?  They can help you start painting?” he suggested.

“Ok,” Dai hesitantly walked over to a table of boys painting.

Mariko watched him worriedly, “It’s going to be ok, right?”

Kame straightened back up, “of course he’ll be fine, we’ll take great care of him,” he unconsciously straightened a few of his necklaces out.

Her eyes widened lightly, “Why is that one of the limited edition designs from AJ?” she asked hesitantly, referring to the jewelry turtle pendant.

He blinked, “Oh, this?” he held up the pendant with a smile, and nodded at Junno who went to check on the children, “yes, it is.”

She smiled, “It was so hard to find, apparently.  My husband wasn’t even able to acquire one of them for me.  I have half a mind to try and buy it off you, I absolutely adore it.”

“Ah, I’m sorry Suzuki-san but I couldn’t bear to part with it, it was a gift from…” he was interrupted by Jin walking in.

“Ah!  Is that you Suzuki-san?” Jin smiled politely, “Is Dai-kun old enough for kindergarten then?” he tried to locate the boy and smiled upon seeing him playing with the other boys.

“J-Jin you know Suzuki-san?” Kame questioned, confused at the turn of events.

“Akanishi-san, I never expected to see you in…” she trailed off as her eyes widened, “Oh… Oh!  You did mention that your significant other was a kindergarten teacher,” she smiled gently, “to think I was going to try and buy one of your designs off your lover.  Well, Dai-kun is definitely in capable hands,”

“What design was it, Suzuki-san?” Jin asked nicely.

“The limited edition turtle pendant,” she sighed, “Well I guess I should be getting back to work, it was a pleasure meeting you Kamenashi-sensei, and seeing you again Akanishi-san,” she walked over to her son, placing a kiss on his forehead before leaving.

“How do you know Suzuki-san?” Kame narrowed his eyes, “She’s very beautiful…” he trailed off meaningfully.

“Yes she is, she and her husband are cute together.  Her husband is one of the higher ups at an advertising company we work with.  I had a business lunch with him a while back and Mariko-san and Dai-kun came to join halfway through.  Do you have time for a lunch break?” He answered.

“Yeah let’s go into the office, are you ok on your own Junno?” Kame questioned.

“Yeah it’s time for your lunch break anyway, and the children’s,” Junno sent them both a bright smile, “Nice to see you, Jin.”

“Hey Junno,” Jin smiled before being dragged into the other room.  The door shut behind him.  He dropped his briefcase randomly, the thud making Kame cringe.

“Jin that’s a…” Kame started only to be cut off.

“I know, designer and expensive, and I shouldn’t be tossing it,” Jin replied, carefully setting the bags of food on the table.  He pulled out his phone and made a call, “Sado-san, do me a favor and pull one of the remaining turtle necklaces out of storage and send it as a gift to Suzuki, Mariko-san,” he paused, “yes of course, thank you.”

Kame arched a perfect eyebrow, “sending her presents now?” he frowned at his lover.

“Suzuki-san’s husband is a very important man, they help handle our advertising.  As well as he has countless connections throughout so many industries.  If his wife is happy, then he is happier with me,” Jin explained.

“Hm,” Kame responded before pushing Jin up against the table.

A gasp escaped Jin’s mouth before Kame roughly claimed a kiss.  He easily slid his tongue into the other’s mouth, caressing the other’s tongue.  He broke the kiss when both needed air and sat down at the table.

Jin sat across from him and pushed Kame’s portion of the food across the table.  He was used to the other’s force in the relationship by now.

“Are those rascals behaving today?” he asked before a hushed, “Itadakimasu.”

“Itadakimasu,” Kame pulled chopsticks from the case, “Yeah, they’re adorable.”

--

Kame watched Jin showing the children how to play soccer out in the playground.  While he loved watching him play with children he couldn’t help but twitch at every piece of dirt attaching to the perfectly tailored, light grey suit.

“Jin!” He called out.

“Ah, you know the rules.  Good luck!” Jin told the children before running back to Kame’s side, grinning like a child, “Hey?”

“Come inside, you’re destroying a 400,000 suit,” Kame sighed.  He quickly began cleaning the suit off and straightening the other’s appearance, “completely let them mangle your tie too.”

He smiled, satisfied, after a few minutes and looked at the clock, “You should be heading back to work.  They’re expecting you right?”

Jin looked at the time and rushed to pick up his briefcase, “Completely lost track of time, I need to be back in twenty minutes and prepare a few things.  I’ll see you when I get home tonight, we’re still on for shopping tomorrow right?”

“Of course,” Kame walked his lover to the front, giving him a hurried kiss before waving him off.

[Akame Apartment]

“Did you eat already?” Kame asked as Jin walked into their apartment.

“Yeah, a few hours ago,” he sighed, checking his cell phone to see it was already past nine, “Sorry I’m so late, I was in with design all afternoon.”

“It’s fine,” Kame pushed the other to the bedroom, grinning along the way.  He shoved Jin down onto the bed before straddling his waist.  He pushed the other’s jacket off before slowly unbuttoning the dress shirt below.  He kissed each inch of flesh as it was exposed, paying extra attention to circle the other’s bellybutton before briefly tugging on the ring there.

Jin hissed at the sensation, arching up towards his lover.

“Shh,” Kame quieted him, moving back up and untying the other’s ice blue tie, “Ne, I think we can find another use for this.”

Jin shivered, he would never admit it but the other knew the executive had a taste for being restrained by his own ties.  Kame expertly tied the other’s wrist together behind his back, placing a reassuring kiss on his forehead before pushing him back down into the bed.

[Café]

“Isn’t that Kamenashi-sensei?” one woman asked another in a café. She gestured to the young man sitting across the café. He sat alone, straightening his designer clothing out of habit.

“Let’s go say hello,” the other woman smiled.

“Good afternoon, Kamenashi-sensei,” the first woman spoke as they walked up to his table.

“Takahashi-san, Saito-san, good afternoon,” he smiled warmly.

“Are you here alone?” Saito asked.

“Oh, no I’m not,” he assured them both, “I’m waiting on my…”

“Lover?” Takahashi suggested with a giggle and Kame smiled, “Ah it’s so weird seeing you outside of the school, you look so different.”

“Well, I quickly learned after the first few times wearing designer clothing to teach wasn’t a great idea.  Not when I’m around children for the better part of most days,” he responded.

Jin hurried in, “Sorry, sorry I had to take that call,” he apologized.

“Ah, we should be going then,” Saito smiled, “We’ll see you at school on Monday, Kamenashi-sensei.”

“Parents?” Jin asked with a bright smile.

“Yeah, they’re really sweet ladies,” Kame grinned as their drinks were brought over, “I hope you don’t mind, I ordered for us.”

“Of course not,” Jin smiled, “We have another jewelry collection coming out that I think you might like.  Once it’s finalized do you want to take a look at it?”

“I hardly need any more jewelry,” Kame sighed, he placed his hand over Jin’s unoccupied hand, “you don’t need to buy my love with jewelry.”

“I know but you like jewelry, and my family’s company is famous for jewelry,” Jin reasoned and squeezed the hand holding his, “and I love spoiling you.  I’m not trying to buy your love, I just love the look on your face when you see a piece of jewelry you really like or when you pick out what pieces you’re going to wear in the morning.”

Kame sighed, “What am I going to do with you?”

“Love me?” Jin suggested innocently.

“I can manage that at least,” Kame laughed, “Come on, let’s go get you some more clothes.”

[Six Years Ago]

[Kindergarten]

“Here we are,” Jin opened the door, careful of the child in his arms, “Ready for school, Akira-kun?”

“Yes, Onii-chan,” Akira responded.

Jin grinned and walked to the appointed room, looking around apprehensively, “Is this the room?”

“Yup,” Akira squirmed in his arms, trying to be put down.

“Alright, alright just let me open the door,” Jin turned the knob and set the boy down.

“Akanishi-san?” Jin turned to the teacher.

His eyes widened when he saw the young man, hair pulled back with his bangs framing his face.  Fashionably dressed for a kindergarten teacher, the charming brown eyes caught his own.

“You’re Akanishi-san, right?” the teacher asked again.

Jin shook himself back to reality, “Sorry.  Yes, and you are?”

“Kamenashi Kazuya, the teacher,” Kame answered with a smile, “Nishimura-san said you would be dropping her son off for a week or two.”

“Yes, my cousin and her husband are on vacation for a week or so and his normal nanny is away because of family issues,” Jin rambled off, “Ah sorry.  Akanishi Jin, a pleasure to meet you.”

“No, the pleasure is mine.  I should be getting back to the class,” Kame grinned before walking back to the front of the class.

Jin blinked a few times before he felt a tug on his suit jacket, “Yes Akira-kun?” he smiled widely at the young boy.

“You’ll be back to get me later, right?” Akira asked quietly.

“Of course, I will personally be taking you to and from class for the next two weeks,” Jin said, “Now give me a hug and I’ll leave for work.”

Akira gave a toothy smile before launching into the hug.

Jin placed a quick kiss on his forehead, “Do good,” he commented before he left, fishing his car keys from his pocket.

--Two weeks later—

“So his parents are coming home tonight?” Kame asked.

Jin had gotten into the habit of showing up early with Akira, enough time to have short chats with the beautiful teacher.

“Yeah, and his nanny comes home in a couple of hours.  She’ll be picking him up this afternoon,” he couldn’t keep the barest sign of a pout from gracing his lips.

Kame smiled lightly, “I guess that means you won’t be coming to visit anymore.”

“I guess not…” Jin sighed, eyeing the other from the side, “Un-unless you don’t mind that is…”

Kame smirked and walked over to his desk, bending to scribble something out on a strawberry shaped post-it. He walked back over and stuck it to Jin’s tie, “Do something even better, call me sometime.”

Jin stared in shock as the other walked away, “S-sure… ok,” he turned numbly and left for work.

[Present]

[Ginza]

Kame chuckled lightly and Jin turned to him in confusion.

“Why are you laughing?” Jin smiled at his lover, reaching out to take his hand.

“Just remembering… I can’t believe your parents let you take over their darling company so young,” Kame responded.

“Ah…” Jin frowned, “Well, they wanted to go gallivanting the world together so they pushed me into it as soon as they could.”

“I love your parents, they’re fun,” Kame pulled Jin into a store.

“Oh, I think you’d like this,” Jin pointed to a shirt.

“We’re not here to get me expensive clothing,” Kame sighed.

“But why not? It always looks so good on you,” Jin pouted.

“Because I have nowhere to wear it.  Remember all the clothing I’ve… my students have ruined.  It’s always paint or puke or crayons or something ending up all over them and you can’t get some of that stuff out.  Or the glue that got all over that leather jacket I loved,” Kame dragged him further into the store.

“Oh so apparently going out with me on the weekends is going nowhere,” Jin childishly crossed his arms.

“You know what I mean,” Kame narrowed his eyes but smiling at the attendant that walked up to them.

“May I help you today?” She smiled widely.

“Can you pull Akanishi Jin’s suit measurements?” Kame directed firmly.

[Akame Apartment]

Kame threw his shopping bags into the bedroom, “I can’t believe I let you buy me these.  Can’t wear them to work,” he grumbled.

Jin wrapped his arms around the smaller waist, burrowing his head into the lightly scented hair.

Kame frowned, the arms tightened around him, afraid of letting go.

“Hey, I’m not angry at you,” Kame chuckled.

“I love you,” Jin tightened his hold.

“I love you too,” Kame squirmed until he was able to turn, “Hey, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing… nothing I’m just thinking,” Jin whispered.

[Five Days Later]

[Akame Apartment]

Kame chewed on his lip, looking at the clock again.  He proceeded to check his phone before going back to staring at the front door.

“He’s late… really late,” Kame mumbled and added a silent, “Again”

His ears perked up when an hour later the door slipped open.

“Tadaima,” Jin quietly called.

“Okaeri,” Kame put hit book down.

Jin looked up in shock, “Why aren’t you asleep?  You have to leave for the school in six hours,” Jin began to drag him to the bedroom.

“Stop,” the command made Jin freeze, “Where have you been?”

“At work, I was working on a ton of things,” Jin whispered.

“Three days in a row.  It’s nearly one, Jin.  Yesterday you didn’t get home until two!” Kame frowned, “It’s already Wed…no technically Thursday now and you haven’t visited for lunch.  You can barely go two days without ditching work to come visit!”

“I can visit on Friday,” Jin offered weakly.

Kame grimaced, “This isn’t about you visiting the school!  You always leave for the office before I do, but you normally at least wake me. I don’t even know what time you’ve been going.  And you come back well after when I usually go to sleep.  You’ve been avoiding me, Jin!”

“Look, can we continue this later?  I’m exhausted,” Jin attempted.

Kame narrowed his eyes and stormed into the bedroom.

“Almost never been at work this late before, definitely not this many days in a row. Bastard is probably,” Kame grumbled angrily while getting ready for bed.

Jin tossed his clothing off, not looking where he was throwing it all before tossing himself onto the bed.

Kame joined him, but went as close to the edge as he could without falling off.  Jin frowned and dragged his lover closer to him.

“Let go of me,” Kame snapped trying to wiggle out of the strong grasp.

“Do you want children, Kame?” Jin asked, holding the other even tighter.

Kame frowned, the conversation had never come up before, “Of course, but I work with children almost every day and it’s not…like,” he trailed off, “Is that what this is about?”

A few times a year the thought would return to him and he would worry about it day and night.  It was hard to find a moment when Jin was happier than when he was around children.  He carried them, coddled them, played with them, spoke to them, and just handled them like they were the biggest treasure in the world.  He always dreaded this conversation, knowing that eventually it would have to come up; the other simply loved children too much.  In the back of the mind it always lurked, the possibility that he would be broken up with so the other could start a family.

“Looks like it’s finally come,” Kame sat up.  His chest ached, a dull throbbing, and he could already feel the stinging pricks behind his eyelids.

“I’ve always wanted a little boy… and a little girl at least,” Jin whispered, “And dogs… we don’t have the time or energy or even for dogs in our current situation.  A little boy to play soccer…”

“Baseball,” Kame cut in absentmindedly.

Jin smiled, “and a younger sister for him, so he can be overprotective of her when I can’t.  A darling little girl to spoil, give cute clothing to…”

“I get the idea,” Kame started to move to the edge, “I’ll just…”

“Where are you going?” Jin sat up.

“Well if you’re going to break up with me I’d like to get a head start on packing all my things.  And if you’re going to do it, I’d rather it not be while I’m in bed with you,” Kame snapped.

“Wait, what?” Jin shot out to pull Kame back, “Who said anything about breaking up with you?”

“Well I knew it would come eventually,” Kame bit his lip, “You love children so much, of course you would want your own.  And I’m pretty certain even you don’t have so much work as to be at work this late this week.  So what’s up, seeing the future mother of your children.”

“Do you really think after six years I would leave you?” Jin whispered.

“You’re the head of a major company, and no matter how amazing your parents are you must be expected to have children… an heir.  I can’t give you that.”

“They don’t care,” Jin laughed, “They put their twenty-five year old son, fresh out of law school, in charge of their company and you honestly think they care about an heir?  Besides, you know they love you.”

“But that doesn’t mean you don’t care,” Kame countered, trying to wrench his arm from his lover’s grasp.

“I love you.  I gave up all thoughts of my own children the moment I realized how much I love you.  Six years Kame, I’m not leaving you after six years.  Six years of loving you isn’t going to disappear just for children,” Jin mumbled, looking him directly in the eye.

“Then why are you asking about children?” Kame frowned, settling back onto the bed.

“The reason I’ve been so late.  I didn’t want to do it at home because you’d be here but I’ve been… looking up real estate,” Jin admitted.

“Why?” Kame frowned, “You… we love this apartment.”

“It’s not big enough,” Jin sighed.

Kame blinked, “We have the bedroom, the study, a guest room, living room, dining room, kitchen, two bathrooms and you think it’s not big enough?  There are only two of us living here.”

“I was looking at houses, we would have a yard… more spare, at least another bedroom or two.  It would still be in the area, we have to stay close to the school and my work,” Jin rambled on.

“Why?” Kame repeated.

“For the children,” Jin said as if it was the most obvious response, “And dogs.  I really, really want dogs, Kame.  At least two… probably more.  We’d probably need help taking care of the house though in that case.”

“What children?” Kame couldn’t stop staring, “we just went over this but in case you’ve forgotten you can’t have children, I can’t have children.  It’s physically incapable.  You’ve lost it, haven’t you?”

Jin rolled his eyes, “It’s moments like this I question your common sense,” he nudged the other’s nose, “I want to adopt, Kame.  I’ve been looking into it along with the houses these past few days.  It’s the only doable way we can have children.”

“You’re such a sap,” Kame smiled, “Well if we’re going to adopt I’m not sure what your parents will think about us not being married.  They may be pretty ok about most things Jin but… they are kind of…”

“You’re just spoiling everything!” Jin pouted, “I was in the middle of planning and everything,” He shuffled around in his drawer pulling out a box.  He opened it and then pulled out a small black box, “I was going to wait on all of this.  You can’t just run off because of work… I was going to wait until just before winter vacation for schools.  Cause then we could go overseas and…” he turned bright red.

“And the house?” Kame grinned, pushing Jin back against the headboard.

“It was going to be a surprise but now that you know… want to go looking at houses with me this weekend?” Jin suggested.

“Of course,” he frowned at the velvet box still clutched tightly in the other’s hand, “And that?”

Jin sighed and popped the box open as Kame settled in his lap.  He pulled out a platinum band, set with a ring of diamonds, “Kamenashi Kazuya, will you marry me?”

“So that we can buy a house, get two dogs, and take care of our crying, adopted children?” Kame confirmed at Jin’s nod, “what am I going to do with you, love?”

“Marry me and love me?” Jin suggested quietly.

Kame leaned down and placed a light kiss on his lips and whispered, “Yes, I think I can manage that… but we’re not naming our baby girl Tiara, I don’t care how much you like it.”

Jin pouted, “But it’s cute and…”

“I know it’s really nice, Jin, but it’s a head ornament. We are not naming her after a head piece,” Kame narrowed his eyes.”

“Fine, then Jennifer,” Jin continued to pout.

Kame sighed, “I can live with Jennifer.  But what happened to her older brother?”

“Uh, I hadn’t really figured that out just yet,” Jin tried.

He threw his head back laughing, “Oh look at what I’ve gotten myself into,” he joked before looking at Jin, “Now, are you going to put that ring on my finger or not?”

Jin fumbled to slip the ring onto Kame’s left ring finger and blushes even deeper, “I uh… I have one too… if you want to…”

Kame snatched the box from him and smiled at the matching ring.  He silently slipped the ring on the other’s finger and tapped the rings together.  The light chime brought a smile to his face before he rolled over to lie back down.

“Are you sure we can’t name her Tiara?” Jin tried once more.

“We are not naming her Tiara,” Kame insisted, “Now go to sleep, I have to go to work in six hours.”

"Yes, dear," Jin obeyed, pulling him into a hug before slowly drifting to sleep.
